 Michael Brown

Interim President and CEO

 Michael is a Senior Vice-President of Pala Investments AG. He is currently a director of Sierra Rutile Ltd (AIM:SRX) and Dumas Contracting Ltd. Prior to joining Pala, Michael was the Chief Operating Officer of De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd, where he was responsible to the Board for all operations in South Africa, including production at five separate mines, the planning and execution of construction projects, strategic business development and health, safety and environmental control.

Previously, Michael was Head of Strategic Business Development, where he was responsible for the full value chain from resource evaluation to strategic business planning, concept studies, feasibility studies and project implementation. He managed the following projects: the Finsch block five feasibility study for $750 million project; the $35 million Venetia resource extension project; the pre-feasibility study for a $1.3 billion underground mine at the Venetia project; and the $200 million mine construction at the Voorspoed Project.

Michael began his mining career with De Beers in 1990 as a mining engineer, and during his tenure has held several senior appointments including those of Group Manager in Global Mining, General Manager Finsch Mine, and Mining/Area Manager Nambeb. Michael is a registered Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with the South African Council of Professional Engineers and a member of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

 

Simon Booth,  BA (Hons, Econ Geol) MAusIMM, MAICD

General Director of BPNM

 Simon has extensive international experience at developing and operating successful mining operations in diverse geographic locations including Turkey, the Philippines, Guinea, Greenland, New Zealand and Australia.  Simon brings over 30 years’ experience with major mining groups including Newmont, Normandy Mining, Crew Gold, Xstrata and Rio Tinto and covers all facets of the mining industry through exploration, strategic planning, underground and surface mine operations and management and corporate executive responsibilities.

Simon is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Australian Institute of Company Directors, Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration and a former vice president of the Northern Territory Minerals Council.

 

 

Paula Kember, CA

Chief Financial Officer

 

Ms. Kember is a Canadian chartered accountant with over 25 years of financial and administrative experience in the mining industry. From 1996 to 2006, she served as Vice-President, Finance of Philex Gold Inc. and previously as a financial officer of Corona Corporation and a director of PolyMet Mining Corporation.

 

 

Dinh Huu Minh, Dip Geol/Eng, Post Grad Mineral Economics, PhD., MAusIMM 

Exploration Manager, and Deputy General Director of BPNM

 

Dinh Huu Minh began his geology career in 1983 at the Research Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources in Vietnam as a Geological Researcher. He has since been involved with Canadian and Australian-based companies as a Project Geologist, working on a number of gold, copper and nickel deposits in Vietnam. In 1995, Dr. Minh joined Ban Phuc Nickel Mines Ltd. as Deputy Director General, where he was tasked with managing and supervising the mapping, prospecting, and exploration for nickel and copper prospects on the Ta Khoa Concession, as well as overseeing the completion of AMR's Feasibility Study for Ban Phuc Nickel Project. In July 2006, he became Exploration Manager for Asian Mineral Resources.

 

Dr. Minh holds a Ph.D. in Geology from Hanoi University of Mining & Geology in Vietnam, in addition to a Post-graduate Diploma in Mineral Exploration from ITC in The Netherlands, a Geology Engineering Diploma, and is a Member of AusIMM.

 

   

Steve Ennor, Assoc Dip (Met.Eng), MAusIMM

Project Development Manager and AMR's Representative in VietNam

 

Steve Ennor is a metallurgist with 30 years experience in nickel, gold, metallurgical test work and process optimization. The last 20 years of his career have primarily been engaged in nickel sulphide processing including senior management and operational positions with Xstrata Nickel Australia, Jubilee Mines, Lionore Australia and Outokumpu. As metallurgy manager with Jubilee mines he oversaw the effective transition of processing operations through the evolvement of complex ore types and reduction of plant feed tenor which included the construction, commissioning and optimization of innovative ore sorting technology. His role with AMR includes the coordination and expansion of site construction activities and development of processing and operations methodology. He holds an Associate Diploma in Metallurgy Engineering and is a Member of AusIMM.

 

  

Ian MacGregor, M.A., LL.B

Corporate Secretary

 

Ian MacGregor joined the Board in July 2004. He practiced law for over 35 years with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin and its predecessor firms before becoming counsel in December 2000, and brings to the Board an abundance of knowledge and experience in public financings, mergers and acquisitions and international joint venture transactions. Mr. MacGregor is Chairman of the Board of Golden Star Resources, a Denver-based gold company with extensive Ghanaian interests, whose shares are TSX and AMEX listed and holds directorships in various public, private and not-for-profit corporations, including the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation.

 

 

 Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, BA, CPA

Manager – Finance

 

Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai joined AMR in November 2005 as Manager – Finance, and is also the Financial Controller for the company’s Ban Phuc Nickel Project.  Ms. Mai is a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years experience and has held CPA status since 1999. Previously she has worked for international accounting groups Arthur Andersen’s and KPMG in their Vietnam divisions, in roles including Assistant Manager and Senior Auditor across a number of different industry sectors. 

 

Ms. Mai ensures that the AMR complies with International Accounting Standards and reporting in Vietnam. She is responsible for management of AMR’s accounting department and Pronto systems, administration of Vietnamese banking and finance facilities, preparation of consolidated financial statements, and supervision of the Vietnamese audit process.

  

 

Le Bich Lien, LLM

Manager – Legal

 

Le Bich Lien is a practicing lawyer who joined AMR to lead the company’s legal counsel. She is an expert in the Vietnamese legal system with more than 12 years experience in business, regulatory and tax law, and is able to offer her expertise equally in both Vietnamese and English. 

 

Ms. Lien has spent 4 years as a senior legal specialist for the Vietnamese Government in enterprise equalization and development, prior to which she was a tax and regulatory supervisor with KPMG for 6 years. Her role with AMR incorporates ensuring compliance with Vietnamese law and regulation in all aspects of the company’s activities, meeting statutory legal reporting requirements, monitoring the registration and permitting process, management of external legal consultants, and the provision of in-country legal services across the group.
