Jim Askew - M.Eng, FAusIMM, MCIMM, MSME
Chairman of the Board of Directors

Jim Askew became a director in December 2004 and Chairman effective January 1, 2005. He is a mining engineer with broad international experience and more than 20 years as Chief Executive Officer for a variety of Australian and international publicly listed mining, mining finance and other mining-related companies. Mr. Askew has been instrumental in founding and growing several companies and overseeing subsequent mergers and acquisitions. His most recent full-time roles have been as President and Chief Executive Officer of North American listed Golden Star Resources (1999) and Rayrock Resources (1998-1999), which later merged with Glamis Gold in 1999 and President and Managing Director of Golden Shamrock Mines Ltd (1986-1996), which merged with Ashanti Goldfields in 1996. Mr. Askew is non-executive Chairman of Sino Gold Ltd and Oceana Gold Ltd, and is a non-executive Director of Golden Star Resources Ltd and Ausdrill Ltd.

Ian MacGregor - M.A., LL.B.
Non-Executive Director

Ian MacGregor joined the Board in July 2004. He practiced law for over 35 years with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin and its predecessor firms before becoming counsel in December 2000, and brings to the Board an abundance of knowledge and experience in public financings, mergers and acquisitions and international joint venture transactions. Mr. MacGregor is Chairman of the Board of Golden Star Resources, a Denver-based gold company with extensive Ghanaian interests, whose shares are TSX and AMEX listed and holds directorships in various public, private and not-for-profit corporations, including the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation.

Chris D. Castle - BCA, ACA, CFIP, IMRL
Non-Executive Director

Chris Castle joined the Board in June 2000. He is a chartered accountant with 28 years experience in the investment and corporate finance sectors. Mr Castle is a director of Widespread Portfolios Limited, a New Zealand-based and NZSX-listed investment company that holds a significant stake in Asian Mineral Resources Limited and other mineral exploration companies. Mr. Castle was a founding director of Spectrum Resources Limited and Premier Mining Securities and has held directorships of six other NZSE-listed companies.

Rob Thomson - MBA, B.E. (Mining), FAusIMM
Director

Rob Thomson is a highly regarded mining engineer with more than 29 years of industry experience. As General Manager of Kingsgate’s Chatree Gold Mine in Thailand, Mr. Thomson was responsible for the feasibility, Government approvals, construction and operations delivery of the Mine – the country’s first stand-alone foreign mining development. At Oxiana’s Sepon Gold Mine in Laos, PDR, he was Project Director responsible for its construction and operations delivery. Mr. Thomson's industry experience includes senior corporate management and line management responsibilities in exploration, feasibility, design, construction, development and operations.

Mr. Thomson became President & CEO of Asian Mineral Resources in November 2006 after resigning from his post as Chief Executive Officer of Philippine-focused Climax Mining Ltd., concurrent with its merger with Oceana Gold. At Climax, he worked with Jim Askew (Chairman of ASN’s Board of Directors) on the financing of the Company and oversaw the feasibility, Government approvals and commencement of construction for the Philippines Didipio Copper/Gold Project. He previously served as a director of Asian Mineral Resources.

Mr. Thomson holds an MBA from the University of Wollongong, New South Wales and a B.E. (Mining) from the University of Queensland. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Australia Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
